With a debut album set for release in July 2018, we welcomed rising rap star Buddy to east London in June. The artist, originally from Compton, drew heavily on his Cali roots as the inspiration for his first full length release, ‘Harlan & Alondra’, with the family living room in the cover artwork and the title of the album itself referencing the cross streets where he grew up.
To celebrate the album launch, and his London gig at the Shacklewell Arms in Dalston, we teamed up with Columbia Records on a very special photo-booth pop-up at the venue. We recreated the artwork for Buddy’s upcoming debut, seventies kitsch sofa and all, inviting fans attending the gig to pose in their very own virtual album cover. The pictures were then transformed into moving images that could be shared on their socials with the hashtag #HarlanandAlondra. Buddy himself joined in, uploading his own recreation to his Instagram story for his 62.5K followers to enjoy.
